Apply for your first handicap
New members without an existing handicap should complete the application form and submit qualifying scorecards covering a total of 54 holes.

The form is a one-page PDF asking for your contact details, Golf Ireland information, previous club or society experience and any earlier handicap.
Application requirements
Completed Form
Provide your name, address, contact details, date of birth and Golf Ireland number, where available.
Qualifying Scorecards
Submit 54 holes (3 × 18 or equivalent 9-hole rounds), including at least one back 9.
Member Verification
Each submitted scorecard should be completed correctly and signed or verified by a club member.

Download the Form
Open the Handicap Application PDF and complete all sections that apply to you.
Play 54 Holes
Record scores over three 18-hole rounds or an equivalent number of 9-hole rounds.
Verify the Cards
Ensure every card is clearly completed, signed and verified by a member of the club.
Submit Everything
Return the completed application form and scorecards to the Handicap Secretary for review.
Previous Club Membership
The form asks whether you have belonged to another golf club and for your previous Golf Ireland number, where applicable.
Previous Handicap
Include details of any previous club or society handicap held.
Other Sporting Experience
The form also allows you to record experience in sports such as Pitch & Putt, hurling, camogie or hockey.
