Respect Other Players
Be courteous, avoid unnecessary noise or movement and remain aware of other golfers nearby.
Respect the Game
Know the Rules of Golf, follow local rules and play in a fair, sportsmanlike manner.
Safety, pace and course care
Player safety
- Before a stroke or practice swing, make sure nobody is close enough to be struck by the club, ball, stones or other material.
- Do not play until the group ahead is safely out of range.
- Do not play towards an area where greenkeeping staff are working until they indicate that it is safe.
- Shout “Fore” immediately when a ball may endanger another person.
- Stop play and seek shelter when there is a risk from lightning.
Pace of play
- Keep up with the group directly ahead rather than focusing only on the group behind.
- Invite a faster group through when your group has lost its place and cannot regain position promptly.
- Play a provisional ball when the original ball may be lost outside a penalty area or out of bounds.
- When searching for a ball, allow the following group through when appropriate.
- Prepare for your next shot while others are playing, provided it is safe and does not distract them.
Care of the course
- Repair pitch marks carefully and as soon as possible.
- Replace or repair divots where appropriate.
- Enter and leave bunkers from the lowest practical point and rake them after use.
- Keep trolleys and buggies away from greens, tees and restricted areas.
- Follow all temporary signs and instructions from course staff.
Courtesy and consideration
Keep calls discreet
Mobile devices should be used considerately so that golfers and clubhouse guests can enjoy a relaxed environment without unnecessary interruption.
